Construction Is Not The Only User Of Heavy Equipment

When most people think of heavy equipment they think of bulldozers, front end loaders and perhaps backhoes and with it they think construction. However, heavy equipment is used a lot in other areas such as mining, forestry, quarrying, and in industrial settings.

One area that uses heavy equipment on a regular basis is in the field of recycling. Front end loaders are common and at times backhoes, particular with specialized attachments. In some areas, you may even find bulldozers hard at work push recycled materials around.

Heavy equipment has one big advantage over the human hands, I don’t mean how much can moved. Human hands are soft and easily damaged. Broken glass, scrap metal, they are all hazardous to out health – but not to the bulldozer, front end loader or backhoe.

Operating heavy equipment in this environment is rarely boring. In fact, it sometimes takes highly skilled operators to work successfully in this environment. Being able to keep the conveyor belts, furnaces or crushes filled all the time is demanding – you are on the go all the time – and the pile doesn’t get any smaller because the trucks keep bringing in new material all the time.

You could be working as part of a recycling team once you complete your training as a heavy equipment operator. Operators are in demand now so this is a good time to gain qualifications.

ATS heavy Equipment Operator Schools has had over 45 years experience training individuals for successful careers as heavy equipment operators. If you feel a career as a heavy equipment operator is right for you then contact us now – classes are filling quickly given the current demand for operators.

Why Accredited Heavy Equipment Training Is Critical

One of the key components of the economic stimulus package is the creation of jobs – this includes a heavy concentration on the construction industry including heavy equipment operators, truck drivers and crane operators.

As private companies write their tender submissions for these projects, they will also be looking at other criteria which includes the employment of trained personnel. In other words, the contractor has to ensure that all employees are suitable qualified for the positions they hold. Gone are the days when you could just jump aboard a bulldozer and learn on-the-job.

Of course, one of the primary reasons behind this move is to ensure that everyone has attended a basic safety training program. All accredited training programs for heavy equipment include safety training as essential part of their program.

ATS Heavy Equipment Operator Schools are accredited to deliver training in the fields of heavy equipment, truck driving and crane operations. Safety is a primary concern to all and is included in all of our training programs.

AT ATS we ride ourselves on the quality of our graduates and work with them to ensure they have a successful and safe working career in their chosen industry, whether it is heavy equipment operations, truck driving or as a crane operator. Contact us for more information on a career in any of these fields and ensure that when you apply for that next vacancy, you have met the minimum requirements to be employed.

Our Heavy Equipment Training School Is Never Too Far From Home

Many find that distance a problem. Naturally, traveling for an hour or two each day to attend training is not ideal and certainly not conducive to good learning – particularly when heavy equipment requires alert operators.

Having friends or relatives that live close to ATS heavy equipment operator school could be ideal – so long as they don’t mind you crashing in on them for a month or two. Of course that option may be seen as a bit of an imposition as well.

That leaves one final alternative to traveling – grabbing a hotel room for a couple of months. Mind you, that could turn out to be a little expensive as well. Hotels are great for vacations but to actually live in one is not my ideal.

ATS may just have one extra solution for you. We may be able to offer living accommodation for the period of your enrollment that should take the hassle of travel right out of the equation. it’s simply a matter of contacting us to find your best option.

What is important to us is your ability to focus on your training so that we can produce the best heavy equipment operators in the country. Our reputation rests on the quality of our graduates and employers have come expect a certain standard of training from us. That is why they continually come back to seek our graduates for positions within their companies.

If you’re considering heavy equipment operations as a career but accessing a heavy equipment training facility has been a problem, contact us to see what solutions we may have available to you.

California Needs Heavy Equipment Operators – Lots Of Them Too

Heavy equipment operators will be in high demand around the country. This will be particularly true in California which now has a total of 1,971 “shovel-ready” construction projects — in dollar terms that is about $23.2 billion (StimulusWatch.org). Let’s forget the dollars and look at the projects.

If these projects are designed as rolling starts – that is one starts as another finishes, they would be at for around 100 years. Obviously that’s not going to work. The only way it can work is by having as many construction crews available as possible. To get the projects completed within the correct time frame, they are going need plenty of workers and that includes trained heavy equipment operators.

That equates to over 20,000 jobs in construction – if 10% of those are in heavy equipment, and it is most likely much more, that is still a minimum of 2,000 heavy equipment operators required. Where will they come from? Many are already qualified and if construction cannot find the operators locally, you can be sure they will try to lure interstate operators.

The answer is much easier – train locals to fill these positions. There are many individuals who would love a change of career, getting out from behinds desks or cash registers and out into the fresh air. Now is the perfect time to seek out heavy equipment training in California as once you are trained and ready to go, the job market will be booming.

ATS Heavy Equipment Operator Schools have two campuses in California, one in Victorville and one in Eldorado Hills and they both deliver heavy equipment training. Heavy equipment training through ATS is accredited and recognized nationally – this means your skills are portable and you can apply for employment in all states. With almost 2,000 construction projects ready to start – will you be ready to start with them. Don’t do what many others will do – wait and see – by then it’s too late.

Bulldozers Lead The Highway Building Charge

Across the nation the noise from construction crews getting ready to build new roads and bridges can be heard – well, at least the noise from the politicians talking about the economic stimulus package and the new roads and bridges that will be built. However, I do know that the time for talk is almost over – it is almost time for action and the first crews out will be the bulldozers.

Without the sheer power of the bulldozer many of our roads would have taken years to construct. Bulldozers have the role of taking the top of the surface, smoothing areas out, ripping out tree stumps and generally preparing an area ready for the graders and much of the other equipment used in road construction.

Graders off course use finesse to finely finish the surface. Bulldozers, as the name suggests, get stuck in and, well, bulldoze their way through. Anything that is in the way gets shunted to one side, dirt, rock, you name it, the bulldozer will shift it.

With the billions of dollars going into highway construction over the next 12-24 months now is the time to become a fully trained bulldozer operator. In the months to come you will start to see more and more positions vacant notices for bulldozer operators. If you complete your training over the next two to three months you will be perfectly placed to take advantage of these opportunities.

ATS Heavy Equipment Operator Schools include bulldozer training as part of their heavy equipment training programs. There are no pre-requisites apart from age, you need to be over 18, so whether or not you finished high school – you can still undertake training.

Bulldozer operators are highly regarded and well paid within the construction industry. If this is the career for you then check our web pages for more information.

Backhoe Operators On Call 24-7

Backhoe operators can be on call 24 hours a day seven days a week as they are the perfect heavy equipment to assist in emergency repairs of services. The backhoe is relatively easy to move from one job to another and has the capability to work in small spaces – a factor often required when working around homes, buildings and street kerbs.

Humans seem to have a fascination these days with burying everything. It understandable for water, waste water and gas piping to be placed underground. However, we are now placing electricity, telephone and the new fiber optic cables underground as well. As soon as there is a problem, we have to start digging.

A good backhoe operator can dig around pipes and underground cabling with precision exposing the area required without doing any damage. Everyday (and every night), somewhere in a major city you will find a backhoe operator at work helping out in an emergency situation. A broken water main, a leaking waste water pipe or perhaps a gas leak. Of course, there are the times when someone has accidently dug through a telephone or power cable as well.

Operating a backhoe with precision takes experience and that experience is built on the back of a solid backhoe training program. ATS Heavy Equipment Operator Schools have had decades of experience training individuals for careers in heavy equipment, this includes backhoe training. If you don’t mind being on call 24/7, helping out in urgent situations and enjoy working outdoors, then a career as a backhoe operator maybe just waiting for you – feel free to contact us for more information.
