Heavy Equipment Job Listings: February 7, 2015

This week’s heavy equipment job listings have some openings for “heavy equipment operators and Class-A CDL truck drivers” and that opening could be filled by the same person — if that person has added the CDL Truck Driving Program to their training program while at ATS. Many students choose to enhance their heavy equipment operating skills by adding a Class-A CDL to their resume, and it makes sense to do it while you are a student.

When students start at ATS, the Employment Assistance starts, too. It doesn’t stop once you graduate because it’s a lifetime benefit of ATS. That’s pretty good, don’t you think?

Another benefit that ATS grads appreciate is free access to the job site, where you can find more than job listings. This site is a professional networking resource for the skilled trades industries and having free access to that resource keeps you in touch with all that is happening in your field.

Here are the job listings for this week:

LOS ANGELES CA — hiring mobile crane operators with Class-A CDL

DARLINGTON, WI — hiring Class-A CDL truck drivers

NEENAH, WI — hiring Class-A CDL truck drivers

PEWAUKEE, WI — hiring heavy equipment operators and Class-A CDL truck drivers

Stay Employable With Heavy Equipment Versatility

One of the best things you can do to be the person who stays employed is — drum roll, please — being the person who can do the job. In the skilled trades industries, that usually means being the person who has the experience, skills, and certifications to do that job. Most of the time that job will involve the ability to operate some type of equipment. The category of “heavy equipment” is pretty big, so a heavy equipment operator who wants to stay employed will try to get experience in many types of equipment.

Good Heavy Equipment Operator Training Involves Variety

One of the things you will notice about the ATS Heavy Equipment Operator Training School is the list of things students learn to operate:

  • Backhoes
  • Scrapers
  • Bulldozers
  • Graders
  • Skid Steer Loaders
  • Wheel Loaders
  • Excavators
  • Off-Road Haul Trucks
  • Front End Loaders
  • All-Terrain Forklifts

The reason so many types of equipment are part of the training is that a job site often will have a variety of machines to do the job. An operator who has the skills and certifications to operate more machines is a more valuable employee. ATS students don’t just learn to operate equipment, they also learn to read grades, identify soil, understand site layout and laser levels, and all the basic skills they will need. Heavy equipment maintenance and safety procedures are part of the training, too.

These basic things are going to be needed no matter which piece of equipment you end up on for the day, so everybody who is on the site should know them. But the operator who can do whatever is needed on the heavy equipment they have is going to be the operator who stays on the job when others are laid off.

Heavy Equipment Job Listings: January 31, 2015

Every week, you’ll see a different list of job openings for heavy equipment operators. Sometimes a few Class-A CDL truck driver positions are on the list, and sometimes you’ll see some crane operators is needed. What you won’t see is those jobs being outsourced to another country, because the thing that needs to be moved is here. If it has to be hauled, shoved, or lifted in this country, then the haulers, shovers, and lifters have to be here, too.

The Employment Assistance department at ATS has a huge database of job leads. If you are a graduate of ATS, you have lifetime access to that database, and it is being updated all the time. Employers trust the training at ATS Heavy Equipment Operator Training School and prove that trust by making sure ATS students and grads know about openings.

When you are an ATS grad you also have free access to the job site. This is a great professional networking source for the skilled trades industries and worth your time to explore all that it offers.

Heavy Equipment Job Listings: January 24, 2015

It is time to add up all your numbers and get ready for tax filing. Did you know that some job hunting expenses can be counted as tax deductions? The IRS has a list of what may be deductible, and it is worth checking into if you have expenses related to a job search. It has to be in the same line of work, though.  If you are a graduate of ATS Heavy Equipment Operator Training School, those job search expenses are part of your benefits.

This is because there is a lifetime, nationwide employment assistance for ATS grads. That’s a huge benefit because sometimes you have to relocate and find work in another part of the country, and who knows when that will happen? You can’t know the future, but you can know that you will have help finding a job in your field.

There is another benefit of being a graduate of ATS — free access to the Total Resources Network, a site specifically for those in the skilled trades industries. Those two benefits may not be tax deductions since they are free for graduates, but they are available as long as you need them, and worth a whole lot more than one year’s tax filing.
